The course focus' on business and branding strategy in China and Hong Kong, in an Industrial Design setting. During my postgraduate studies, I have continued to develop my design and presentation skills, and further my knowledge of business and manufacturing in Asia. My course has enabled me to visit manufacturing sites in the Pearl River Delta, understand how branding and marketing can be used to link the West and China, and given me the opportunity to work with the Size China Lab at Hong Kong Polytechnic University on an ergonomic mountaineering helmet.
I was a research intern in the Product Design and Innovation department. The position involved my design skills being utilised in client projects in the aeronautical and medical sector, as well as in interior and event design. My internship in Singapore, not only helped me to broaden my knowledge and confidence in my design skills, but also gave me an insight into designing in Asia, and allowed me to gain important work experience skills. It provided me with a platform, to improve my team working skills, my communication skills, and my personable skills, whilst fully immersing myself in Asian culture.
During my time working for The Solder Connection, I carried out administrational tasks, including talking with customers and suppliers, and processing orders. I worked as part of a team within the office environment, and greatly improved my communication skills with customers, both in person and on the phone.
