Working as part of a team of female volunteers, I coordinate weekly meals and art workshops for a shelter with over 30 residents who are waiting for rehousing in central Manchester. Screen Queens is a feminist focused film site created and written by young women and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Since Screen Queen's launched in 2013 I have been a staff (until 2017), and contributing writer; reviewing features, shorts, television and documentary, writing essays on gender and form, and contributing to listicles about suburbia, parting, and music in cinema.
Set Designer and Set Decorator for an informational pharmaceutical video. I was responsible for sourcing and creating props to for two sets: a standard doctors office and a homely kitchen area which both operated in the same room on location. On set I was responsible for dressing, and maintaining the set as well as continuity. As I was part of a small team I also was responsible as a runner.
Part time Artists Assistant to Beth Nicholas. I created invoices, cleaned the studio, prepared Beth's canvases and workspace, emailed clients (such as Dior and Christian Louboutin as well as private buyers), coordinated Fedex pick-ups and deliveries, and did photography for her instagram.
Shot, Edited and Directed a short video for Saffron Records Second Birthday Event at Mr. Wolfs, Bristol. Working in a team of two, we filmed on a dark busy night of dancing and performance, then edited to a deadline to best showcase Saffron Records event and the artists they represent.
Wardrobe assistant and continuity supervisor for a short science fiction film, Zero Sum. This provided me with excellent experience working on a BAFTA funded short film set. I worked amongst a small crew, demonstrating professionalism and creativity.
Partaking in the BFI Film Academy Scheme, I selected to programme Sofia Coppola's 'Lost In Translation' at The Watershed. After many masterclasses with industry professionals, our team obtained a 35mm print of the film, sold out the event, and set up a Karaoke evening in the Cinema Bar. Part of the Filmic'14 season and preceding a season on Japanese cinema. This was an invaluable and defining experience that introduced me to cinema curation and exhibition.
