Having worked as an art fabricator at MDM Props since June 2018, I have recently progressed to a more administration-based role within the company, working mostly within the office but crossing over into the workshop where relevant. Since December I have been working predominantly on projects for Google and Disney. The role of Project Assistant varies slightly depending on the specifics of each project. General responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Prop researching, sourcing and purchasing • Obtaining quotes for outsourced fabrication, bulk orders and hiring of equipment • Calculating material purchasing against measured requirements • Ordering raw materials and tracking material costs for projects • Setting up meeting rooms for client visits • Booking flights and accommodation for MDM staff working on site • Basic use of InDesign when relevant • Use of Google docs • In the process of learning how to cost/quote for jobs
