- Selected WorksDjojo & Versteeg consists of two artists who formed a duo during their time in art school and is located in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Rik Versteeg (25) graduated as a Fine-Art photographer in 2013 and Danny Djojosoedarmo (22) is a self-educated make-up artist and stylist. - The Masquerade BallMasquerade balls were a feature of the carnival season in the 15th century, and involved increasingly royal entries, pageants and triumphal processions marriages and other dynastic events of late medieval court life. Masquerade balls were extended into costumed public festivities in Italy during the 16th century Renaissance. They were generally elaborate dances held for members of the upper classes, and were particularly popular in Venice. In the 17th and 18th centuries masquerade balls became popular in Europe with sometimes fatal results. Guest could infiltrate events by wearing a masque and we’re unrecognizable and could pretend to be someone else.
- Noa BeguileFreakshows became popular in Europe and the United States during the 18th century. They were often associated with circuses, fairs and traveling carnivals. Before the eyes of a curious audience that was looking for sensation and the unusual, a variety of special people were exhibited. Most of the time they were people with a talent that only a few could imitate.These people were unique because they were different. They were different because they were unique. They were perfect, because they were imperfect.Nowadays people strive for perfection. Being different and unique is being advertised as a way of self expression. The gap that was once too large to bridge has now become a fine line between perfection and imperfection.
