I am a resilient and adaptable Self-Shooting Producer/Director and Editor with six years of freelance experience creating independent short-form factual and narrative films, as well as five years of experience as a Film Production Educator to 14 - 19 year olds throughout a variety of schools and colleges across London. I am skilled in a range of software packages such as the Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro X, DaVinci Resolve, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite, as well as proficient in using industry standard camera and sound technologies. Demonstrating strong editorial judgement, a meticulous eye for detail, and innovative idea incubation capabilities, I aspire to use my skills and expertise to flourish in creative roles.
As someone who is mixed race, Muslim and female, my relationship with my identity and my relationship to the concept of home has been a profound yet complex experience, and so my work channels that, through two core themes: what does it mean to be human and what does home feel like. I am passionate about magnifying the human experience, going deep into the temperaments and layers of human beings and the homes they come from, striving to tell stories that paint a raw and realistic portrait of the paradoxes they both hold within, often from a social, cultural, and religious lens.
Connecting and collaborating with others is second nature to me, and I feel incredibly fulfilled by the ability to do that. Through my teaching and freelance career, I have built profound relationships with the humans I've taught and worked with. I appreciate people for who they are and value being able to learn from their experiences. Self-awareness and empathy have been integral in building authentic connections with others and I continue to feel invigorated by networking opportunities.
As a Self-Shooting Producer/Director and Editor, I own industry standard camera (FS7 and BMPCC4K), sound and post-production equipment, with proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Audition, After Effects, Photoshop, and Lightroom), Final Cut Pro X and DaVinci Resolve. Aside from making films, I am a literary non-fiction writer, digital artist, and graphic designer, skilled in Adobe Illustrator. My artwork is based on traditional ethnic heritages, with aesthetics inspired by Japan.
