Roamland Studio is the alter-ego of Diana Jarvis, a freelance print and publishing designer with 15+ years experience. She was the senior designer at Rough Guides for nine years and was responsible for art directing and designing large-scale publishing projects. Since going freelance in 2012 clients have included Lonely Planet, Cool Camping, The National Forest Company, National Literacy Trust, Duckworth Books, University of Westminster Press, LSE Press, Travel PR and VocalEyes among others. I was responsible for creating a wide range of print and digital marketing materials – including social media assets, posters, flyers, fundraising packs, digital downloads – to support a growing literacy charity. This was a part-time, in-house role.
I was responsible for commissioning and briefing freelance designers, photographers and illustrators, design for print (book covers, internal pages, house ads, marketing materials), digital design (app. wireframing and development, eBook and digital asset creation), presenting design concepts to sales and marketing teams and taking in feedback, initial design concepts for new book layouts/liaising with editorial teams, pre-press, retouching, colour proofing, using CMS.
