  • Ayacucho! Semana Santa!
Ayacucho! Semana Santa!A concept-led publication, the handmade Ayacucho! Semana Santa! uses literary design conventions to guide the reader through photographic content. Paratext is fundamental, with the book employing a prologue to establish the Andean city’s genealogies and topology, while additional paratexts – a title page and page numbers – further support the reader. Physical guides – paper stock choice, paper folds and laser cuts – lead the reader through periods of disorientation, such as a bout of altitude si
  • Frontier
FrontierA work exploring the accidents that occur when a symbol is taken from its common seat, Frontier evidences a remote practice initiative researched and tested during my postgraduate study. The designs chronicle Spanish-Catholic iconography carried through Salamanca’s wild weather and antagonistic attitude. In Vancouver, Associate Professor Jon Hannan and I continued this accidentresearch by processing my digital captures through an analogue Riso machine to create over 1300 randomised pages and pos
  • Seamless
SeamlessCollaborative response to the concept of seamlessness. Jon Hannan and I sourced anonymous boxes of 35mm slides, and employed a randomisedprocess to design blended images from photographs of different erasand nations. Featured in the Seamless: the digital in design exhibition at Slovenia’s Museum of Architecture and Design, held in partnership with the British Council.
  • Commentary
CommentaryResearch project with The National Football Museum and Manchester School of Art exploring the relationship between football and design throughdialogue with prominent design studios working with football; and by tasking these studios with a common brief: to create a football flag thatthey would take to a game. Funded by Arts Council England. Contributors include: Craig Oldham, Barnsley F. C., Fernando Gutiérrez, Hey Studio, Hort, Mucho, Studio Dumbar, The Chase, The Designers Republic and Vasava.
  • Sinai
SinaiA curated exhibition documenting, through personal photography, my community engagement work in Italy, Morocco and Poland. Key images were curated in the opening two rooms of The Vault gallery. In the main space I designed a live, freeform mounting event that both explored experimental sequencing and communicated my wandering encounters with each subject.
  • Athelstan's Dream
Athelstan's DreamCommissioned exhibition tracing the multicultural nature of England through a three-day engagement with some of the multitude of communities, faiths and genealogies in its capital city. While exhibition and picture titles evoked the romanticised old England, large-format prints curated in the historical formats of the diptych and the triptych counter-communicated a matter-of-fact modern, multicultural England.
