- Design toolkit for NHS hospitalsA patient flow that delivers the best care by the right professional in the right place and time remains a major challenge within the growing complexity of today’s health service. A flawed system impacts patient safety and quality of care. Collaborating with other students, we were given a task to investigate patient flow in an NHS hospital. We were working with NHS staff to find and analyse pain points that produced an overwhelming amount of insights.

Since its launch in July 2020, #YSHive empowers young people to be system changers and influencers by sharing power with organisations. Alongside my role as a TEC panelist, I have been actively engaged in helping establish Young Scot’s new volunteering and system-changer service #YSHive.

Awarded an 'Unconditional Pass' in my January 2020 Viva examination for my practice-based research project 'SELF-MANAGEMENT BEYOND THE SELF' which explored how participatory design can help discover the barriers and facilitators of self-management practice for type 1 diabetes. From conducting interactive interviews and a participatory workshop with users of self-management devices, user-centred design principles were established to develop preferable relationships towards digital self-management practice. Alongside this non-taught postgraduate research (PGR) degree with DHI fee-waiver studentship, I volunteered for DHI and NHS 24 in various roles during my full-time studies.
