About me
Until recently, I moved to Amsterdam where I carried out a 6 months internship at Mexx's Head office, as a Product Management intern. In this role I specifically helped the women’s department team manage the entire product line life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities that helped lead to the new rebranding of the company and the women’s line itself. My role was much more than just an intern; I was given additional responsibility within the company which meant working very close in developing products and ranges with buyers, designers and suppliers. I am currently studying at the University of Manchester for a BSc in the Management and Marketing of Fashion Textiles. The degree has a science based foundation but also includes arts, technological knowledge, math and computer oriented skills, needed for a particular discipline within the field. Studying for an honours degree means I am studying for a join a master's degree programme, although I am also studying fashion modules, I feel that the sector I would like to go down would be marketing and management of business as this is where my real passion for the degree lies. I believe that my experiences in marketing and interpersonal skills make me a prime candidate for this position. I am a diligent worker, and passionate about my work. I will be a valuable asset to your company and will use this as an opportunity to grow and further the development of my marketing skill set. I am enthusiastic and dedicated. After graduation I hope to work in a global and expanding business company where I can make a difference in sales through creative marketing and management. A placement would give me the potential to enhance my skills and would give me valuable relevant marketing experience whilst allowing me to express my passions.

My part time role within the ladies fashion department required me to give customers fashion advice in the changing rooms and also with any general enquires they may have had. I have learnt a number of important skills whilst working, such as customer communication which involves always being polite, store arrangement which is generally keeping the shop floor tidy and stock taking. It has also taught me to work very well both individually and as part of a team as I have to work with others. Through building my fashion knowledge and showing that I am a hard worker, it meant that I was trusted with new challenges. One such task I am especially proud of is dressing the store mannequins every few weeks and as a trend focused individual, I was often asked to complete this job. This helped me gain a better understanding of the fashion industry in order to pursue my career. Skills learnt and applied whilst working for Fenwick include: • Numerical skills for taking payment by cash or card and working the till professionally • Visual merchandising, by assisting in floor moves, collaborating with collections and folding up garments to make table displays presentable • Carrying out stock replenishments and end of season stock taking • Having a key interest and understanding in the brands we represent in order to help customers with enquires • Maintaining the stores cleanliness and appearance • Taking care of exchanges and returns • Excellent communications skills with other members of the Fenwick team • Maintain an awareness of all promotions and advertisements

Education
BSc Management and Marketing of Fashion Textiles
     -
I am currently studying at the University of Manchester in the School of Materials department for a BSc in the Management and Marketing of Fashion Textiles. The degree has a science based foundation but also includes arts, technological knowledge, math and computer oriented skills, needed for a particular discipline within the field. I wish to study at the University for 4 years; carrying out the third year in an industrial placement in order to expand my knowledge for the degree with hands on experience. So far the course has taught me the fundamental aspects of the business of the fashion and an introduction to the basic principles of fashion management and marketing. Some of the modules I study are: • Product analysis of knitwear • Integrated Design • Marketing • Business management • Brand management • Weekly laboratory Classes for textiles chemistry These units have been very valuable in providing me with technical knowledge of the product supply chain for knitted products. The aims of the lectures have enabled me to gain an understanding in the complex wide range of textiles materials, described the materials accurately using mathematic skills and how costing works
