I am a recent Loughborough University graduate with a First Class Honours in Graphic Communication and Illustration, looking to work for a design agency or in the creative team of a large brand in London. I have a strong interest in branding and advertising: one of my final degree projects saw the rebrand of outdoor brand, Berghaus, and my dissertation focussed on cross-cultural brand communication and identity preservation. I am well practiced at Adobe's Creative Suite, confident with Illustrator and InDesign and I also possess fantastic drawing skills which a background in Fine Art has helped me develop. Therefore, quite often my work combines physical print and drawing with digital illustration, layout, typography and design. Having said this, I am able to identify which techniques are appropriate, to produce works that are in-keeping with the mood and aesthetic of the brand and/or campaign/brief. I tackle problems from new and innovative angles through first researching the context and audience surrounding the brief, from the immediate, to the abstract. I have travelled to Morocco, Cambodia and Peru and as a result am fascinated by cultural difference and would like the opportunity to work in offices abroad: my dissertation focussed on cross-cultural graphic communication and maintaining a brand's core identity throughout expansion. I would like the challenge of using graphic design to transcend cultural barriers and differences to communicate a brand's identity across cultures, and to enable interaction between cultures without flattening or reducing individual identity. Instead I want to enhance these traits and communicate them in a way that will be understood, accepted and shared by external cultures - encouraging cultural harmony rather than forcing a ‘grey cultural homogeny’.Locked Pro Plan feature
I conducted research around Ted's current and aspiring target markets alongside past innovative marketing campaigns. As Ted does not advertise conventionally, it is important to think of new and exciting ways in which to reach and involve its target market: from events to pop ups, to app and digital interaction. I spent time talking to members of the Marketing and Creative teams, learning how the two work separately and together in order to visually communicate the Ted Baker brand.
Completed the three year Degree with a First in my dissertation and a first overall.
Completed a year's foundation course at Loughborough in Art and Design, specialising in Fine Art, before deciding to switch to Graphic design.
