As resident assistant, I worked within budget on planning, marketing and leading events for a large and diverse group of international students. I earned an Edinburgh Award for my work in this role.
Over the year, I researched, wrote, recorded and produced a five-episode podcast about public art around Edinburgh. I also marketed for the series, The Collection Public Art Podcast, and presented engagement analytics. In addition to the production of the podcast, I led tours of public art on the central campus.
As Marketing Intern, I drafted exhibition press releases, submitted events and exhibitions to a multitude of local event calendars, distributed exhibition cards to public buildings around the city, and created an Excel spreadsheet of small and large holidays as well as artists’ births and deaths for use on social media posts. I also staffed a monthly Final Friday event, aiding in ticket sales, set up, and take down. As part of the exhibition team, I selected works to display, completed research for selected objects, wrote wall labels and the exhibition description, designed the exhibition layout, planned and executed educational programming for children, planned and led a tour of the exhibition, and attended hands-on seminars on various aspects of museum activity.
Using Microsoft Word, I created lasting dynamic templates for product and safety manuals. I collaborated with the engineering, marketing and law departments to ensure a high quality and up to date end product. S.R. Smith continues to use these templates today.
I aided various student groups with large-scale printing and copying projects, handling cash and credit card transactions. In addition, I sold event tickets, monitored inventory, rented out equipment through management software, and regularly closed out the cash register.
This role involved assisting the store owner in balancing her QuickBooks business expenses, keeping inventory online and in store, designing online advertisements in Adobe Illustrator and general shop maintenance. Depascal Atelier is a small independent boutique selling hand-crafted clothing, jewellery and home pieces.
I managed confidential patient charts and filed medical records. I also performed various office tasks such as confirming patient appointments and handling correspondence between locations. I was not active in this position between September and May for schooling.
