I always think that as long as you aim yourself in the right direction, you’ll automatically begin to open yourself up to the right choices. As an artist, my work revolves around the subconscious as a tool to communicate with myself and others. You can really learn a lot when you accept you’ll never know everything. It’s an attitude which helps me to work well with others, to recognise their strengths and knowledge - to communicate in the most open and honest way possible.
When I was working at a nursery with 3-4 year olds, I was amazed at how easily they were able to make the same everyday tasks unique simply with the attitude they had that day. It is something I try to apply in my working life, to explore the possibilities of how to do something and focus on the one which is best for myself and the team as a whole. I also worked as a Contact Tracer on behalf of the NHS, which requires a great deal of empathy and understanding to provide the relevant guidance and to act as a calming voice at such a unique time in the world.
I am also a freelance composer and have just finished two commissions for BBC Sounds (audio dramas) which are due to be released later this year. I am proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud, Ableton, Sony Vegas and have knowledge in HTML, website design and music production/mixing. In my free time you can find me writing poems in a notebook, noodling on a guitar or finding space to store new vinyl records.
