I’m Sam, a writer who has spent her life channelling an overactive imagination into adventures of horror and fantasy.
My first experience with horror was sitting, terrified, in my cousin’s room listening to stories of axe murders scratching at cars and babysitters answering phone calls coming from inside the house. I spent summers digging through fantasy epics during long car journeys to rainy seaside resorts and devoured copies of local-author books of legend. I graduated with an LLB mid-financial crash and fled to Japan, where I worked in a Junior High School in tiny town and lived in a building affectionately known by locals as ‘Gajin Towers’ - the place where all the foreign teachers were housed.
I’ve since gone on to work in a variety of businesses and roles, from debt collection to specialising in innovation in a global bank. I currently head delivery and agile for a national recruitment company, whilst developing story led learning games for corporate transformation.
My screenwriting is inspired by the folklore I’ve encountered around the globe, and from my experiences as an outsider looking to find a place amongst the strange and unusual. My goal is to explore deeper truths about the human condition through my work.
When I’m not chained to my laptop, you can find me exploring Iron Age ruins in the Cotswold hills, or digging through the shelves of London’s finest occult book stores.
