As manager of a small but very busy and popular shop I am responsible for the following activities: Stock maintenance - keeping track of sales and ordering stock into the shop in response. • Managing invoices - Creating invoice spreadsheets and tracking expenditures in order to keep the shop prepared for quarterly VAT returns, and to keep budgeting in check. • Organising and releasing content for social media. • Remaining calm, present and friendly to customers at all times. • Dealing with all cash management problems and routines such as cashing up, refunds, complaints and banking. • Pushing sales through friendly customer service and extensive knowledge on all stock. • Maintaing a good relationship with the small staff that I manage through out the week.
I worked very closely on the curation of events for the Goldsmiths/Accidental Records Record label, 'NX Records' launch parties both during my time at Goldsmiths and after graduation. For the main album launch party I was responsible for the following: • Organising and arranging sound engineers for the event, seting up back line and arranging PA set up. • Arranging reasonable and achievable get in, sound check and performance times by liaising with artists. • Helping to gain a temporary alcohol licensing arrangement. I also purchased the alcohol from local shops in order to use local businesses as well as make a profit on alcohol at the event. • I did a significant amount of promoting, by word of mouth and by using social media in order to promote the event as widely as possible. • Arranging for a group of volunteers to come to the event to man the door/ticket booth. As well as run the bar and merchandise stalls. • I compered the evening, providing the audience with knowledge about all of the acts on the compilation we were launching, the artists performing that night and about the record label itself.
During my time at Apples and Pears, I had many different jobs roles, however during my time as Live events coordinator, I was responsible for the following: I Created events to fill every weekday of the month with live, interesting and new music acts. • Designed artwork for each event that was put on at the bar. • Liaised with artists over payment, riders and travel cost cover. • Organised sound checks, tech specs and get in times with both the artists and sound technician. • Arranged drink promotions in order to bring a vast amount of people to the bar. • Compered all events in order to keep the tone upbeat and exciting, and to provide the audience with correct knowledge about all of the acts. • Took table, event and full bar hire enquiries and processed them through design my night software. • Processed accounts through QuickBooks accounting systems • Gained long lasting contacts for event sponsorship from drinks companies via branding and associated promotion.
'CryBaby' was my own, solo event, created specifically for the space inside Apples and Pears bar. During my time making this event I completed the following responsibilities. - I created my own event for the third Wednesday of every month. • Due to venue rules I had strict time and sound restrictions to adhere to. • Created the artwork, posters and social media pages for the company and each individual event. • Ensured that every month the talent was unique, new and refreshing. • Promoted the event through social media and via the Apples and Pears website. • Built long lasting relationships with acts as well as brand sponsors in regards to making the event a success.
My actual job title for this position was 'Women's Wear Accessories Manager'. My time at Urban Outﬁtters was extremely valuable and proved to be an important experience for development of my managerial skills. My duties included: - Assisting the VM to merchandise the whole of the women's wear accessories, ensuring the placement of all products was in line with head office visual merchandising plans. - Place and merchandise new stock every morning. - Allocate staff to particular jobs and duties, reshuffle the rota to ensure all departments were covered correctly. - Deal with customer complaints and returns. -I dealt with all till functions, including refunds, and cross store purchases. - I requested and sent out inter store transfers, to ensure that not only my stock levels were correct, and running correctly alongside projection, but other stores were too. - I read and analysed reports for my department over the whole company and applied those reports to the shop ﬂoor through purchasing and stock transfer. - I also learnt how to keep a team positive and work effectively under pressure.
I completed a BMUS Popular Music Degree with a 2:1 with Honors.
