About me
A London-based, Istanbul-born dual British-Turkish citizen and an MA graduate of contemporary literature from the universities of York (BA Hons, 2012) and Oxford (MSt, 2013), I am a bilingual Arts journalist freelancing for digital and print publications in both the UK and Turkey, including Art Review, Istanbul Art News, AnOther Magazine and The Economist.
With versatile experience that spans writing and researching editorial; digital and social media strategy; proofreading and translating, I have particular strengths within art criticism, film reviews, interviews and multimedia content.
I am also experienced in commissioning articles; sourcing images; and organizing both myself and my contacts so as to meet a variety of concurrent deadlines. Open to in-house and distance freelance writing and editing opportunities.
Projects
- Painting PortfolioWorking in a variety of traditional and digital mediums, my paintings were exhibited in a solo exhibition in July 2014 in Istanbul and previously in a group exhibition in June 2011 in York. My art has featured in publications including Karmapolitan, White Coffee Magazine and The Oxonian Review.
- Skype at the 2015 Aspen Winter X GamesInvolved along with other Strategists, Project Managers and Creative at POSSIBLE with driving sign-ups and sustaining an ongoing digital strategy for Skype throughout the Aspen Winter X Games 2015. Closely worked on forming our early strategic thought and our content/channel ideation through audience research, demographic insights, audience segmentation, ongoing social media strategy and individual peak campaign activation points.
- Arts & Culture WriterArts and film writing published both in print and online content formats in Aesthetica Magazine, ArtReview, This Is Tomorrow, Istanbul Art News and Apollo Magazine. Academic research published in Senses of Cinema (Issue 68, 2013), Life Writing (12:2, 2015), Postgraduate English (No 29, 2014), and Africa in Words (Nov 2014).
