For the past three years, I have studied and experimented with a variety of materials, but it was ceramics which stole my heart . Here I have pushed my ideas and designs in a way that has allowed my to really hone my craft and skills as a ceramicist. I specialise in plaster model and mould making, slipcasting, and quite recently have turned my hand to handbuilding techniques such as coiling, and pinching. My final degree show work stems from my growing fascination with plants, and a desire to surround myself with them. The prickly pear and other desert plants, were the inspiration behind my mark making and led to the development of my dot patterns. I began to replicate these dots in ceramics, by slip trailing them onto slip cast and hand built forms. I feel a natural connection with clay and I find the repetitive nature of ‘dotting’ to be therapeutic. Combining my love of both ceramics and plants, has led to a collection of colourful, tactile, and unique indoor plant pots. My ceramic work can be seen alongside glass, metals, textiles, 3D design and the work of fellow ceramicists, at the De Montfort University Art & Design Degree show 2017, from 16th - 22nd June.

Shortlisted for a live design brief set by Sainsbury's
This was good experience for me as I worked collaboratively with the Sainsbury's Homeware's design team to follow the brief. I presented my ideas, responded to their feedback, and was shortlisted to further present my design ideas to a larger panel, at the Sainsbury's headquarters in Coventry. This experience taught me the importance of researching and understanding your customer, and it allowed me to push my design and CAD skills further.
