I have recently finished my studies as the first and only full time student on The University of York's Screenwriting by research MA course.
I composed the original score for Operation:HERO. A new super hero themed escape room.
Giving in-character “story” briefings before each game. Creating and sustaining character throughout the briefing and responding to questions in character. Remaining in character to give clues and advice through the intercom system during the game. Operating sound boards and FX switches during games. Giving health and safety briefings. Quickly resetting game rooms between games. Opening up and closing down the venue. Training new Games Masters.
I worked from initial story idea to second draft feature film screenplay with a subsidiary first draft feature screenplay. The MA by research in Screenwriting had no taught element. I worked independently with support from my academic supervisor.
This undergraduate degree draws the key roles of director, performer and playwright together, in order to provide students with an in-depth knowledge of theatre practice, and the skills they'll need to succeed in any area of the industry.
