About me
I am a designer looking at the intersection of culture and technology. An engineer by training, with a strong passion for theatrical performance and set design, I seek to bring together the analytical and emotional. I'm particularly interested in cultural narratives, storytelling with technology, and the future of live experiences. I have sought to develop as a storyteller and media designer, choosing to build a range of skills in theatre, film, visual communication, and interaction design. It is through this work that I wish to promote my philosophy of multiculturalism and diversity - using the levers of culture to challenge hegemony, politics, and power.

PORTFOLIOIn the interests of not doing anything unnecessarily twice, I figured it would be much more efficient to link you to my portfolio directly. Follow this link to my website where you'll be able to download a pdf of the portfolio. I've uploaded some snapshots below as a teaser. https://www.shankhochaudhuri.com/portfolio
  • UNSCENE: An Experiment in Immersive Storytelling
UNSCENE: An Experiment in Immersive StorytellingWhat is the future of Virtual Reality in Theatre? A collaboration with Helen van Baal, as part of our master graduate project at the Royal College of Art, this was the starting point for a five month excursion into the overlapping spheres of theatre, immersive storytelling, technology and the future. With the booming of digital industries exploring Virtual and Augmented Reality, there is no doubt that the world of theatre will be touched and changed as these technologies become more commonplace.
  • Self-Portrait
Self-PortraitThis series of photographs is a satirical reflection on the stereotypes and insults that I’ve encounted in my life. I directed and composeed each image as a hyperbolic interpretation of each term. This is part of a wider body of graphic work around Race and Identity. At the MIT Hacking Arts Hackathon, I lead a team of designers, programmers and dancers in exploring the future intersection of technology and the arts. Exploring the ways in which we could visualise, remix and understand dance through motion capture, we reached the top 10 groups, eventually securing a 2nd place prize in the Perception Neuron Sponsor Category. http://hackingarts.com/2017-winners/
