Freelance Theatre Director & Resident/Assistant Director I am a theatre professional experienced in directing, assistant directing, running workshops with developing artists and schools, producing, project management and marketing. I currently work with a number of different theatres on various projects, along with running my own company, OddFlock.
Assistant Director on the musical adaptation of Sue Towsend's THE SECRET DIARY OF ADRIAN MOLE AGED 13 3/4. Helping to rehearse and maintain the performances of three groups of children on rotation, alongside an adult company.
Lead workshops and teach LAMDA acting exam classes for ages 7+.
Set up my own theatre company. Directed three-week run of the 4-star SITTING WITH THISTLE at the Lion and Unicorn Theatre in October 2013. Directed workshop performance of THE BALTIMORE WALTZ at Chickenshed Theatre in July 2014, currently being taken further for a professional London run. Previously directed SOMETHING'S GOT TO GIVE. Ran variety nights at Paper Dress Vintage to fundraise for the company. Lead workshops in schools focussing on approaches to text and devising.
Assistant Director on the Hong Kong transfer of SEUSSICAL, previously having run at the Arts Theatre, London.
Assisted on the UK premiere of the Tony Award winning musical IN THE HEIGHTS at Southwark Playhouse, starring Olivier Award Winner David Bedella. Duties included assisting with rehearsals, research, character work, production and noting runs.
Worked on LOST BOY, a dark musical sequel to Peter Pan based around WWI, starring Olivier Award nominee Andrew C Wadsworth. Premiered at Finborough Theatre, before an eleven week run at Charing Cross Theatre. Assistant Director in rehearsals, before becoming Resident Director throughout the run, maintaining the show on the director’s behalf and rehearsing recasts and understudies.
Worked as Assistant Director to Emma Callander (Associate Director of Traverse Theatre) on the 2013 flagship production of THEATRE UNCUT at the Young Vic. Duties included research, assisting with rehearsals, aiding discussions, writing blog entries and assisting stage management.
Worked on Phil Willmott’s touring musical SECRET LOVE, about the life and songs of Doris Day.
Worked alongside the producers on their full range of programmes. Duties included planning and developing productions at the BAC and in schools, dramaturgical and administrative support. Led on the Freshly Scratched Festival, which had over 165 applications.
Helped to project manage the programme of the UK’s largest youth music theatre company. Assistant Director on SOUL MUSIC (Rose Theatre Kingston) and THE DROWNING POND (The Lemon Tree, Aberdeen). Responsible for preparing and leading understudy runs, as well as handling of puppetry.
Assisted the director and producer on the site specific JACK THE RIPPER'S LONDON.
Exchange student working as a Production Assistant on THE RAKE'S PROGRESS. Shadowed on US National Tour of THE ADDAMS FAMILY.
Worked in a professional London fringe theatre. Assisted with stage management duties, lighting, front of house tasks and publicity.
Worked at a summer camp in Maryland, USA. Responsible for drama program, teaching, staff and all uses of the theatre. Directed shows including GUYS AND DOLLS, ROBIN HOOD and JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH. Previously Assistant Department Head and Assistant Director.
