With over 15 years experience in Graphic Design I have gained understanding of many different creative areas, and I currently head up an in-house creative team that covers print, packaging, web, video and copywriting. In my current position as Creative Director I am responsible for creative vision, brand strategy, and brand identity. The company's brand strategy is my part in developing the company's overall long term goal. My role is to facilitate the 'best possible creative execution' of our agreed brand activity, linking to sales targets and product deliverables - ensuring design is on-brand, relevant, and highly creative. I have a passion for packaging, specifically for retail, developing packaging solutions for top retailers that are innovative, fit for purpose and cost-effective.

Using design to help maximise sales and profit for the business, with strategic alignment to and support of overall company strategy. - Ownership of agreed marketing and product collateral to be delivered on time, in full, to budget - Leadership and engagement of the Creative team - developing creative, talented, commercially aware individuals - Continual awareness of current and future trends to consistently innovate creative ideas Achievements include: - Delivering 'Project SHOUT' - a successful campaign that included TV advertising, in-store point of sale, print and online promotional activity. The project delivered a 75-80% average retail sales increase of carbon monoxide alarms. - Launching SONA brand into the trade market - developing the brand, setting the creative direction and driving the team to deliver quality visual work that effectively communicates the new brand to the market - Modifying the AngelEye brand packaging and POS specifically for the German market, which has specific demands from a Smoke & CO alarm brand, with very positive initial response from retail buyers.
Managing the Graphic Design team to deliver marketing collateral and product collateral (packaging, manuals, product marking) that is highly creative and delivered on time, to budget. While consistently innovating in all areas of graphic and packaging design to set Sprue apart from competitors Achievements include: - An integral part of the team that won sole supply to B&Q for Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Safety range. New range of packaging and point of sale was developed and delivered entirely in-house, which raised sales from 12,000 alarms per week to 22,000 alarms per week within 6 months. - Secured single supply of packaging to our multiple manufacturing sites across the globe from a single supplier - negotiating best value and contractual obligations to ensure best for all three parties: Sprue, our third-party manufacturers and the packaging supplier. - Developed the FireAngel brand and used high quality design to help dominate the Smoke and carbon monoxide alarm market, growing the business from £3.2m to £65m turnover.
- Working independently within the business creating innovative packaging solutions for the big 3 lock brands: Yale, Chubb and Union. - Sourcing suppliers and negotiating best value supply in UK, China and India - Dealing with all areas of the business to ensure packaging meets the requirements set by product management, marketing, supply chain and quality. Achievements Include: - Designing door handle range of custom packaging for major DIY retailers B&Q, Homebase and Wickes. - Joint-development of a patented tooled plastic part used to Hold door handles onto cardboard. - Graphic Design for Yale marketing collateral to support their new visual identity which was also implemented on all packaging.
A part-time business run with a friend from home. Mainly focused on creating low cost websites for those with lower budgets; charities, start-ups, and sole traders. Used to complement main employment develop design skill further, commercial knowledge and the understanding of how a business works.
