I was born 18th of July, 1995 in Taoyuan, Taiwan. After completed high school in a Waldorf education system, I finished my bachelor of Fine-Arts degree in Tunghai University with a minor degree in Architecture. A few months later I moved to London, UK and completed my study with a Graduate Diploma of Fine-Arts in Chelsea College of Arts, UAL. Currently am a Master student studying in Royal College of Art, majoring Photography.
My work mainly based on photographic, two-dimensional images, included digital based photography, found images, film photography, Polaroid and other analogs. The center of my practice has been focused on the interpretation of the mind and how our visual senses can affect practical feelings and actions, even to diverse judgments. I aimed to discover methods to play with perspective, in between the process of making my images.
The core area that interests me is the phenomenon and controversy that followed us along when we entered the age of digital and mechanical reproduction. Ideas around privacy, mass surveillance, social media, internet usage and the many ways those things silently interfered and changed our mind. The way of communicating, the pattern of our life, and the world has all been changed rapidly in the past few decades. These invisible elements not only changing our physical movements but also movements inside our mind, they are roots of many mental illnesses, such as dysthymia, depression, psychological isolation, and manifestation obsession. I hope to bring audience awareness and introspection of those issue surround/inside of us, caused by the specific era we’re living in.
The idea of using photography came across from a feeling of mine, that it can provide an open, general and objective ground. Reducing the character of mediums, such as textures, colors, size, and displaying, photography can send a strong message without being “personal”, which is matching partly my personality of being low-profile, and also a precious feature in art mediums. My work included the reconstruction of the image, use digital tools to retouch, reframe and create a poetic body of work that can better represent the idea of a single image.
