Final year events management student experienced in luxury events and weddings. My strong customer focus has been developed during my year long events placement in London. I have dealt first hand with brides and high profile clients, always striving to deliver their events above and beyond expectations. I have a passion for creativity and use this to aid clients in designing their dream events/weddings. I utilise this skill to make the most out of any budget and effectively problem solve when needed.
Whilst working at Collection 26 I took on two roles, I worked alongside the events management team and helped with the planning of events including budgets, sourcing suppliers, booking in suppliers and confining events and all required paper work with this. The second part of my role was to work with the creative manager and help with idea generation from the client brief, as well as holding the responsibility for creating mood boards for clients and writing the event and wedding proposals. Towards the end of my time in the company, I took on more responsibility with in the creative role and help a key role with in the generating of designs for some of our weddings and sourcing the suppliers to make these happen, but I also took on the responsibility for the set up and the on the day creative design.
Welcome Guests, ensure room is set up for event, ensure all staff are aware of plans, ensure all guests are happy especially the bride and groom, ensure the whole event runs to schedule. Liaise with with catering staff, and any other externally brought in companies to make sure the day runs to plan.
Part of the Oxjam Cheltenham Takeover 2013 core team. I am responsible for obtaining sponsorship for the event, as well as coordinating all fundraising activities. The Takeover itself, takes place in October, and raises money for Oxfam, through live music concerts in venues across cheltenham. Leading up to the Takeover, there are many fund-raising events to take place, all to raise vital funds for the Takeover and Oxfam.
Assisted with research for upcoming and future event proposals, assisted with invitations organisation, helped with final preparations for an upcoming event, sources suppliers, was also responsible for updating the company website.
Assisted the General Manager with the general running and operation of the Inn, learnt and assisted with the taking of bookings, and confirming bookings. Gained experience and understanding of the operation of the private dining room. Gained experience in the back of house and housekeeping areas of the hotel, and observed the running of the kitchen.
Involved in general backstage management and in assisting with artist liaison activities (including checking all equipment is present and that they have the appropriate wristbands for access to required areas). Also carried out roles with ticket collection and general stewarding roles. Was responsible for checking on a variety of the fringe events, to ensure smooth running, and was incharge of helping with on day management in the music library concert event.
Part of the staffing team for the Run To The Beat Half Marathon, the role involved helping with organising the route and checking that road closures compiled with regulation and and were fully organised. Responsible for the production of the event manual, and ensuring that all information required was put in, with the correct level of detail required for on the day referral. The Role also involved setting up online booking systems for future events and looking at the budgeting of these future events.
Acted as an assistant event manager to the organiser of a Institute of Directors Dinner at the House of Lords in London, involved aspects of one site management, organisation and set up, as well as dealing with guests and any issues that arose.
Now in my final year of this course, my optional modules have included Venue and Facility management, and Celebratory events. These add to the knowledge I gained in my first couple of years, as well as aiding my learning in my compulsory modules, which cover all the legal aspects of events as well as operational management and planning.
