About me
I'm Sophie, I'm currently working as a part-time cafe assistant but my dream is to enter the publishing industry. When I'm not making coffee, I'm working on my own blog which focuses on lifestyle, travel, food and drink and pop culture such as film and TV, books, photography and music. I'm also working towards a BA Hons in Photography on a part-time basis with the Open College of the Arts. This allows me to work at my own pace and work in my own time, and I can develop my skills and my hobby at the same time.

I currently work part-time as a cafe assistant (3 - 4 days a week). This allows me to pursue my writing for my blog as well as working towards my photography course. I've developed skills such as customer service, a good telephone manner, organisational skills, maths skills, working well under pressure and prioritising tasks. I also cash up, I've done invoicing and once a week I'm in charge of the front of house, meaning that I'm the direct point of contact for customers, I ensure that everything runs smoothly and I've gained leadership skills. While I enjoy my job, I'm definitely ready to move on and pursue a career that I've always dreamed of: something media-related, ideally within the publishing industry.

I'm studying a photography course on a part-time basis with the OCA. This allows me to work from home, at my own pace and in my own time. I started this course to develop my skills because I love photography so much as a hobby, and I'm learning a lot about the subject and developing my skills all the time. In my course I complete individual exercises, do a lot of research and at the end of each module I submit an assignment.
