About me
Hi I'm Sophie, a Textiles in Practice Graduate from Manchester Metropolitan University. Within my practice, I have a strong focus on incorporating sustainability into my designs, that are heavily inspired by my own experiences and imagery of natural landscapes around the UK. Picking up on their seasonal textures, compositions and colours to reflect on and develop in my distinctive and abstract handwriting – letting the haphazard quality of mark making and natural dyeing guide my process. Throughout my final year on my degree, I have been creating a portfolio of print designs with a natural emphasis through combining both hand and digital methods for a variety of contemporary applications, as I am more drawn to an appropriate ethos rather than a specific context. A big part of this ethos comes from my fabric and medium choices, as well as incorporating tactile and manual processes such as screen printing and natural dyeing into my design process.
Please enjoy having a nosey through my profile and looking at some of the work I have created this year!
