Hi, I'm Sophie. I am a multifaceted graphic designer, with a keen interest in typography and hand lettering, with a fun, colourful, and considerate approach to design. I believe that graphic design is much more than pushing pixels and making posters – It’s about seeking solutions to problems with an open mind, through effective communication, understanding, and creativity. It's about delving deeper and designing with purpose, in order to have an impact and make a difference. I am inspired by the people and world around me and am always striving to learn more. Although most of my finish work is produced digitally, I also enjoy producing traditional, hand-drawn designs along the way, especially regarding typography. I also have a strong interest in design for advocacy and approaching design from a human perspective.

I was awarded this internship through winning the UHNM Challenge in 2021. I presented the project to the hospital board, the UHNM Charity, local MPs Jo Gideon and Abi Brown, Executive Creative Director Andrew Laurence, and IET representative Alison Griffith. I then worked in the Communication Department, where I learnt about inclusive design. This experience has improved my presentation, communication, and organisational skills. This is an ongoing project and is due to be completed in around a years time.
