Projects
- Mencap Sport rebrandMencap wanted to encourage competitors in it's sporting events to try other fundraising challenges by seeing themselves as playing for a larger team. I split the events up into 3 areas - Sport, Challenge and Extreme to make it clear what type of events on offer. Each area has it's own identity and badge that's rolled out across apparel, online, print and event materials. The three badges come together to make a whole 'Team Mencap' logo which also appears on all the branding. The result is a modern and functional design that joins up over 10 events and delivers a clear message.
- GLH Annual Review 2012My brief was to develop a ‘different’ type of calendar that stakeholders and council folk would want to have on their desks for a whole year. This was also to contain a summary of the charity’s facts and figures for the year. This design focus’s on stories from people living in Golden Lane Housing accommodation and uses a quote from each of them to bring the pages to life. The format itself was interesting to develop, doubling up as envelope as well as stand for the calendar. This saved the client a lot on postage, not to mention keeping the environment happy.
- Mencap Annual Review 2012This is the first year that Mencap has produced an annual review alongside it's annual report. The aim was to produce a shorter, more involved document that more people can engage with. I worked closely with the copywriter to create a much more accessible document in both tone and design. We wanted to make a feature of the case studies - stories about real people Mencap supported in 2011/12. So I created a throw-out page design for each case study, where a full page photo folded out to reveal the story underneath. As well as concepting and designing the review, I directed the photography for the case studies and managed all aspects of the print and production. So far, the document has been extremely well received.
- Little Noise Sessions 2012In it's 7th year running to raise awareness and money for Mencap, Little Noise Sessions 2012 was a huge success. As with the previous year I was asked to update the logo to keep it engaging and current. The name of the charity is now more prominent and it has a more wintery feel, without losing the identity that many have come to recognise. I was responsible for designing and project managing the creative behind the event this was rolled out across the website, internal branding, posters, programmes, video and banners.
Work history
Graphic Designer
Since joining brand awareness has risen considerably due to the team pushing consistency in the charity’s messaging.
I have injected some life into many of the charities corporate documents, including the Annual Review, which I transformed from the usual long report to an informal, handy and engaging summary document. It was extremely well received and even read! I also project manage Viewpoint (the corporate magazine), design events materials, online media, high-profile campaign reports and exhibition graphics.
