Working in a start-up team of four people, I was responsible for campaign monitoring, developing my analytical skills; preparing pitch presentations for potential clients; running the day-to-day business; working alongside the Product and Marketing Executive and the Account Manager, I was involved in designing new campaigns/strategies.
As an external guest blogger, I was able to further develop my writing and research skills, focusing on current trends within the digital marketing and social media world.
Throughout the one-week work experience I explored how the different agency departments come together, attending talks by advertising practitioners. Working in a team, we were briefed on Monday by one of VCCP’s biggest clients, and developing a concentrated brand idea and its creative execution, we pitched to the actual client and to the agency on the Friday, receiving invaluable feedback and learnings.
Creating content, I developed my research and editorial skills, along with creative writing skills, and learning how to tailor my writing style as appropriate. This included writing country guides, blog posts and client articles. Promoting the company’s social media presence, I assisted the growth of its social media channels, continuously improving our approach. I was also involved in the creation of various domains for the JL website.
My communication skills and diligence were developed, as I was involved in organising the opening event of the new head office of Postbank. My involvement in seminars/meetings further developed my creative thinking, having to often work with tight deadlines. My communication skills were further enhanced, representing the agency in front of journalists whilst working at The No Project’s seminars in universities/schools. The project was awarded a “PR Prize 2013” for CSR in the business sector, Campaign of the Year and Campaign of the Audience for 2013.
My exposure to the marketing communications department in Mobiltel (largest telecommunications provider in Bulgaria, part of Telekom Austria Group), triggered my desire to pursue a career in marketing and advertising, attending meetings/brainstorms and assisting with admin work.
