Looking after 650+ photographers/videographers managing assignments with all major editorial clients from across the globe, specifically the UK, Europe and Asia. I work on the briefing, budgeting and planning of the assignment with both the photographer/videographer and picture editor or art buyer so that the assignment runs smoothly and is delivered on time. I work closely with photographers both newly emerging and established on the best way to continue and grow their careers in photography whilst bringing in new and exciting assignments from the pictures desks around Europe and further afield. Assignments vary from editorial, corporate, social responsibility, commercial and advertising.
I was in direct control of the news diaries and news feature creation at Getty, my photographers covered breaking news events and produced features on a wealth of interesting, obscure and in most cases beautiful subjects. I managed a team of six photographers in the UK and at various times acted covering the European diaries and photographers as well.
My role as news picture editor dealt with the supervising and directing of five picture desk assistants and 28 photographers, to plan, prioritise, schedule and illustrate the most important news stories of the day at the foremost national news picture desk, liaising with our customers to hone and satisfy the needs of their specific target markets whether that be newspapers, agencies or web based. This extremely fast paced environment has taught me to respond quickly and precisely to achieve results with 100% accuracy, using my excellent communication skills to work to very tight deadlines with very experienced journalists and photographers.
