Hi there, I am Suzanne Soulier an artistic jack of all trades, I love anything conceptual, symbolic, activistic artistic, poetic and music related. I also love reading philosophy and I am a fan of Judith Butler and Maya Angelou. I am against any form of violence and have a passion for recognizing patterns in human behavior. Since I was little I am intrigued in mysteries, occult and ancient societies like Aztecs and Egyptians. I am fascinated by their way of living, because they appear very alien by building immense statues and their intelligent civilization that also had a strong invisible faith. I believe that the past holds the key to the future and the future should learn from the past.
Projects
- I Met An Alien Once, It Looked Like MeGraduation project, was part of the 2017 ArtEZ graduation exhibition 'Dreams Need Air'. 'I Met An Alien Once, It Looked Like Me' comes from a fascination with the relationship between humans and the estrangement from the self. I believe that estrangement is deeply connected to individualism and egoism. Charlie, the main character of the corresponding movie appears at once strange and posesses basic human attributes. Charlie is fascinated by images of the past, which is manifested through apocalyptic archeological scenes. The film reflects the future consequences of interpersonal, alien behavior.

Motion Graphics 3D animation (a meteorite one of the main characters) for Maersk Operaen (The Maersk Opera), 3D and photoshop manipulation visualization, illustration, research design and presentation, Manual and exhibition design, experimental design and spatial design. Also editing and designing 'Pigs, Time and Space' for the Shanghai Biennale. Together with an Italian Architect master student, we pitched a design for an English school courtyard, which we won! And that spatial design is still being made...

During my studies, a lot of different type of arts were addressed, photography, fine arts, graphic design, product design, digital design (creating websites, apps) At ArtEZ students work together from different disciplines like (interaction design, product design and creative writing) which was always very stimulating. I also won a study trip Tokyo and a pitch for a 500 meter road design for Giro D'Italia 2016 and ArtEZ. With my team (Roos Marijn Peperkamp (creative writing) and Denise Bernts (graphic design)), which we later on realized in about two weeks.
