Electric Peacock Festival

  • Co-Founded Sri Lanka’s first international music festival, bringing together some of the top billing names in electronic, rap and indie music, including Grammy award winning artists Roger Sanchez, Basement Jaxx and Tinie Tempah. Key responsibilities include sourcing artists, sponsorship, event production and promotion of the festival including all social media and content for the event. Since its inception the festival has grown by 400%, with over 5000 people attending in 2013. The event has gotten global publicity including being covered by the BBC World Service and DJ Magazine. Key Responsibilities: • Creation of the festival, it's vision and its future goals • Development of the brand, from name to logo and brand application • Branding and promotion for the festival • Scouting and negotiating with talent • Sponsorship; securing all funding - cash and in kind • All aspects of production – including filming and equipment sourcing • Overseeing the legal contracts • Budgets and invoicing as well as all financial reconciliation Key Achievements: • Bringing International talent like Tinie Tempah, Roger Sanchez and Basement Jaxx to Sri Lanka • Creating a significant impact on the local music scene • Building strong personal relationships with William Morris Endeavour and Primary Talent International • Developing a network of artists locally and internationally who support our vision to create an entertainment industry in Sri Lanka and South Asia • Expanding our festival offering to the South Asian region; attracting festival goers from India and Maldives • In three years, the festival has grown by 400% in terms of festival attendees and ticket sales

  • Head of Digital (Freelance) – McCann Worldgroup Sri Lanka (December 2014 – February 2015) Consulted on the restructuring of the digital team, hiring new leadership and realigning the business. Led the team on a confidential campaign and handled the transition to a new management team. Led 3 pitches and won all three pieces of business.

  • Brought in on a freelance basis to deliver a response to tender from the English Cricket Board for event design presentation and digital experiences across all match formats (T20, ODI and Test). Responsible for ideation, strategy, articulating concepts and direction of the overall response. This was an intensive role working with the two Co-Managing Directors and Clients Servicing Director.

  • Three-month assignment to improve McCann’s digital and social offering to their biggest client Premier Foods. Worked with the Planning Partner to develop digital strategies for all Premier brands as well as total brand strategies for Bisto and Loyd Grossman Sauces. The role entailed managing relationships across the teams at Premier as well the five agency stakeholders who were part of Team Premier.

  • Responsible for the creation of an entirely new digital department, training the agency and their clients, pitching and developing a new client portfolio whilst building new relationships with Google, YouTube and Facebook. By February 2014, the team was 10 people strong with in-house developers and designers working on over 20 retained and project based clients across social, web and mobile. In less than two years, the department had won a number of awards, including an Effie and two Silvers at the Goa Fest in India. Digital client roster: Carlsberg, Corona, Somersby Cider, Durex and MasterCard. Key responsibilities: • Developed the overall new business strategy for digital within the group • Financial planning and forecasting • New business development and pitching, for the digital team as well as the overall McCann team • Ideation and strategic planning, with a particular focus on digital strategy • Integration and development of digital and social media campaigns for ATL clients within the agency group • Presenting campaign strategy • Client relationship management including liaising with CEOs and Senior Management • Social media and sentiment tracking • Hiring and training staff within team and across agency • Establishing key relationships with digital and entertainment partners across India and Singapore • Building relationships with third party online suppliers – Google, YouTube and Facebook Key Achievements: • Majority of retained clients brought into the digital business were won outside of the McCann client portfolio • Organic growth; developed client relationships from a single brand assignment to multiple brands across their portfolios • Selected as the winner by the 4A's in Sri Lanka to represent the country in the Young Lotus competition at Adfest in March 2012, beating out 15 local teams and competing against the best talent from the Australian and Asian continents • Brought in new client (China Doll), handled their brand launch and within one year it was shortlisted for a Cannes award, and won two silvers at the Goa Fest in India • Won an Effie in late 2011 for Ceylon Sapphire campaign • Creating successful online and offline music activations for clients like Durex, Carlsberg and Strepsils

This was a comprehensive account management role that covered staffing and training, operations and logistics, production, client liasing, and onsite event management.
