I am a mid-weight graphic designer with 6 years of experience and a degree in graphic design. My experience has been focused in the retail environment within the cosmetics, fashion and home entertainment industries. Most recently, I have freelanced on the Miss Selfridge and Rimmel London design teams and helped to create the brand CI's of several small businesses. Before freelancing, I was the sole UK designer on three cosmetic brands: OPI, Miss Sporty and NYC at Coty Inc. My main focus in these roles was on print and digital advertising as well as in-store point of sale. I have worked on many brands from budget to luxury and have dealt with several retailers across the UK and SA. I am fluent in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop and have basic knowledge of HTML. Working as a freelancer gives me the opportunity to work on different brands and keep up with the ever-changing needs of today’s consumer. My varied experience allows me to easily fit into the style of any brand and communicate their unique message. I work well within a team, enjoy finding creative solutions to briefs and am deadline oriented.
At Coty, I worked as a print and digital designer on several brands including Rimmel, Miss Sporty, Sally Hansen, NYC, OPI and Bourjois. I worked with retailers such as Boots, Superdrug, Amazon, ASDA, Debenhams, feelunique.com, Morrisons, Sainsbury's and many more. I gained experience in promoting both budget and luxury brands online and in-store. My responsibilities included the below: • Design of monthly in-store promotions for Miss Sporty, NYC and OPI • Follow-through of promotional designs to online and print advertising platforms • Design of online brandstores for Miss Sporty, OPI and Sally Hansen • Creation of promotional emailers • Image manipulation/retouching on product and model shots • Liaising closely with marketing team to maintain strong and consistent brand visuals and messages • Assisting marketing and PR teams with their conceptual and design needs on all brands • Working with the POS team to produce high quality POS within budget
In this role I worked on brands including 20th Century Fox, Universal, National Geographic and HIT. I handled all print and digital design needs, from instore POS to online banners and newsletters. I obtained my degree in graphic design Cum Laude at the University of Johannesburg. The main focuses of the course were Communication Design, History of Art and Design, and a strong influence of drawing and painting. This is where I found my love for branding and typography and developed a need to keep learning and expanding on my abilities.
