About me

Theresa Lola is a British Nigerian poet, events programmer, workshop facilitator and accountant. She is the joint winner of the 2018 Brunel International African Poetry Prize and has been shortlisted for the 2017 Bridport Poetry Prize. Theresa has facilitated poetry workshops at St Mary's University, schools such as Saint Gabriels College, Upward Bound Workshops at the London Metropolitan University. In 2018 she launched the magazine Fourhubs for writers, a refreshing take on literary, the second issue is due May 2019 on the theme of mental health. Her debut full length poetry collection 'In Search of Equilibrium' is due February 2019 published by Nine Arches Press, it explores themes of mental health, death and grieving. ​Theresa is the co-curator of RAP Party alongside Inua Ellams, an event in celebration of the bridge between Poetry and Hip Hop. She is a Barbican Young Poet from the 2015-2016 programme led by Jacob Sam-La Rose. She is part of the creative collective Octavia Women of Color collective led by Rachel Long resident at Southbank Centre.
