Tobi is an illustrator and animator based in Manchester. After recently graduating from Manchester School of Art Tobi is keen to continue working on projects which explore editorial, animation, mural design and publishing work. Tobi has a keen interest in social issues and has worked within community art projects such as Bukky Baldwins Refugee group at the Whitworth Gallery in Manchester.
Tobi loves to create colourful, energetic designs using pencil crayons and colourful card collages, brought together through digital means. Interest in social issues means that Tobi engages in research and documentation within the community to echo their voices as the main narrative for her work. People skills and design skills come hand in hand for Tobi which has resulted in socially engaged publication projects being 'soon to be' published on platforms such as the 'Refugee Week' blog. This has allowed her work to be taken out of a sketchbook and put on platforms that can make a difference.
Most recently Tobi's work won an award for 'Fresh Meet' which in light of recent cancellations of the university degree shows created a 'nationwide degree show'. This showcased Tobi's design on a billboard in London for 2 week over May/June 2020; a once in a lifetime opportunity. The initiative was written about in the Creative Review, which featured the Tobi's entry. Her recent printed newspaper publication Home Cooked is also featured in the Newspaper Club monthly roundup of favourite newspapers.
