I'm Tom and I'm a writer.
I want to make people cry.
Or laugh.
Or think.
I want people to feel something when they see my work.
I want to speak to them on a fundamentally human level.
And I think the best way to do that is to transcribe something of myself into what I do.
But I don't believe that transcription happens through some magical osmosis.
It comes from hours and hours of hammering on your craft.
I won't let something go until I've gotten it right.
If it's creative and it has my name on it, I gave it everything I had.
It's never perfect, and I'll always need help, but I'll never half ass it.
To borrow the words of a fellow Dubliner, I'm not talented, I'm obsessed.
