About me
I'm Tom, I'm from south London, and I Currently work in Mayfair in Luxury retail. I studied Painting, in Scotland, at the Glasgow School of Art around the time it burnt down, (and no... it wasn't me. However, I did manage to grab a couple of lungfuls of finest Mackintosh staircase during my escape of the burning building). After I finished my degree I came back to comparatively tropical south London and continued painting. It became obvious quite quickly that I also needed a job to fund my creative exploits, and began working again for Belstaff, I quickly got a hang and an insight to the luxury retail industry, and all the trimmings that went along with it, which helped me build my confidence and capability when it comes to looking after Clients and creating a relatable rapport and organic relationship. suffice to say I honed my people skills. It also included working with the Visual Merchandisers which I relished and the Marketing and PR department which allowed me to witness how collaborations and fittings worked with celebrities, influencers, bloggers and general promotion of the brand. Recently, I have been working on my own online journal for menswear which focuses on the contemporary man's wardrobe and lifestyle, while also encouraging contemporary values of masculinity and discouraging outdated and prescribed narrow ideas of the past. The articles themselves range from Whiskey tours of Scotland to Men's Jewellery. My days off, I tend to spend in my painting studio in Peckham - painting until about 8 - then either going home or to a Restaurant for dinner. I suppose my focus now is looking for something that I can involve my creative skill set in fully in a journalistic and visual sense, as I feel a little unchallenged by retail and want to begin a new journey. I'm still new to the game so to speak and want to learn as much as I can. I suppose my goal is to have my own publication covering everything from clothes to politics to Art.

The Manifesto onlineIt’s a bit of a funny time to be a man. Not in the sense that we are hard done by -because we are not, just thought I’d mention- but in terms of Identity. We grew up with our father’s and grandfather’s generations having a very different outlook on what was acceptable in terms of gender roles, political views, views on sexuality. However most of what we perceive to be masculine is fairly backward when you think about it. A lot needs to be left behind as we stride into a newer, better, healthier,
