About me
An established, professional photographer based in Manchester with over 20 years experience delivering across a broad spectrum of photographic disciplines. Who decided three years ago that she needed to learn more and discover more about something she loves! Light and all it’s magical attributes when used on stage, why I you ask? Well for all my professional life as a photographer lighting room-sets to people, rooms to cars it has always been the light that excites me and how we can manipulate it. Along with another me that as a performer of dance and a passion for watching dance in all it’s forms. So the story begins in 2016 when I co-produced a dance show at Z-Arts here in Manchester with a Turkish choreographer Ozgen, he sent me the show cues from Japan where this had also been performed. I had a look through and thought I could do more! so armed with the music I set about writing down thoughts and yes sketches of the states for each scene, along with some of my own imagery to be used as projection within the show. The day of tech and rehearsals arrived, I spent the next six hours in the box with the fabulous house technician plotting and developing the show. I had no idea what the fixtures were called but instinctively knew what I wanted them to do. People came, people applauded and then continued to talk about the lighting, it seemed we had upped the level for a little bellydance show. Something stayed with me, so much so that I then found myself at an open day at LIPA in Liverpool. Ending my visit with the head of department showing him some images from the show and asking if he thought the industry would take to a more mature grad? Something amazing happened! I received an unconditional offer there and then! how could I not embark on this adventure. So here we are 3 years later with a first ! BA Hons Theatre & Performance Technology , having relished every challenge that entering full time higher education as a working professional can throw at you. Learning and developing even more my love of light and the extra surprise of projection which hadn’t been part of my plan but sits so easily with photographer me. So this is me right now heading into a another realm of freelance looking for opportunities . Enjoy your time here on my site and you can see images from Ask the show that started it all on my lighting design page. I have also photographed most of my shows so you can see more of the stage photographer me . You get a lot of bang for your buck
