About me
As an enthusiastic and committed young designer I am constantly looking for opportunities to better myself as a creative working towards finding my personal aesthetic. I boast a progressive curiosity to my work which is maintained throughout my design journey whilst training towards perfection in manufacturing standards and professionalism. Exploration with unconventional fabrication showcases an artistic charm accompanied by heavy involvement in contemporary dance and performance brings fresh inspiration to my developing aesthetic. Movement, excess and conscience for bodily performance in garments is what constantly inspires me in my work. I enjoy working in a fast paced, creative environment which allows me to build on my own technical knowledge, design process and industry standards.

101“I hate purity, I hate goodness! I don't want virtue to exist anywhere. I want everyone to be corrupt to the bones.”- George Orwell, 1984 London based newcomer, ALEXANDER STEELE premieres a performance boasting a progressive curiosity with unconventional fabrication that builds not just garments but outspoken characters. The aesthetic reflects his constant hypnosis with theatrical escapism. ‘you are in an [un]stable world. sterile living is what we are told is desirable. a dystopian world has outlawed the orgasm. all sexual exploration and desire stripped away from the freedom of human exploration. they monitor everything; every touch, every climax, every pre-planned conception. their existence, not ours. when you take away from people we find a way to keep on, we take it into our own hands, no matter what was right or wrong. there is no wrong anymore. only their right. around you is a space, an experience. four walls containing a rebel’s lust, a leader of his own making, a taker, manipulator of will. -YOU CROWD A BIOPSY OF STRUCTURE.’ 101 is a fashion performance space reflecting this narrative, inspired by the dystopian world of George Orwell’s 1984. A place that once existed under democratic civilisation now a grey, dusty tomb choking under an oppressive, power-crazed Big Brother who watches everything. You witness the oppression of desire. 101 is a continuation from ALEXANDER STEELE’s graduate collection representing themes on the potent voyeurism in us all, ranging from sexual voyeurism to desires of seeing the foundations of structure both socially and architecturally. Unconventional textile manipulation has culminated in securing structural garment components; i.e. boning and shoulder pads with a concrete/PVA compound. This flourished into the sculptural dress bases that shape the space around you. True to ALEXANDER STEELE’s ethos you are not invited to the familiar catwalk, you are invited to witness an experience, to be submerged in the narrative. www.alexandersteele.co.uk

  • GRADUATE COLLECTION
GRADUATE COLLECTIONThe collection reflecting the voyeur in us all, the obsession of seeing the reveal of a structure. Representing the process of undress, opposing the dressing ritual of Marie Antoinette and the court, you see garments peeling from the body to reveal the flesh beneath, an aesthetic taken from the photography of Aaron Siskind. Glue manipulated fabrics brings a fetishistic touch whilst concrete treatment conveys a chocking urban approach that compliments a dystopian society, reminiscent of Steele’s research into George Orwell’s 1984. Use of sheer fabrics translates the boundaries of dress and undress with subtle, romantic cuts juxtaposing sharp, graphic layered shapes. Raw edges throughout the collection portrays the fragility of a structure and how time progressively deconstructs without security.
