About me
I grew up in a world of performance art, writing and Tai chi; I grew up traveling around the world to attend endless performance art festivals; I grew up between l’Empordà, England and Bangkok. Born to multilingual parents language has always played a big part in my life and has influenced my work in many ways. On one hand, I have become drawn to work as a translator and on the other hand it has taken my classical music background in to the realms of sonic art (through my interest in phonetic poetry).
Having recently graduated from the University of York with a BA Hons in the Arts I have spent the last three years exploring my own creativity, developing sound installations as well as writing popular music and recording in London. In this time I have also had the opportunity to explore other areas such as curating, an interest that has allowed me to work with a variety of different artists and that has become entangled with both my artistic and academic work. In York I curated exhibitions for a number of different cultural spaces as well as co-founding the project Spyclopse, alongside curator Tilly Heydon.
In 2013 I founded InCo: In Can Obert, a project that braches out into many different residencies, events and collectives with the purpose of creating opportunities for trans-disciplinary collaborations. So far we have run a number of residencies and activities in the UK, Spain and Italy. Through Inco I also started a series of open monthly meetings called Demolitions, events where anyone could come and explore a theme or perform in the space/time of three minutes. In 2016 I held the position of chairwoman for the 2016 York Spring Festival of New Music and was able to put to use my work as curator and coordinator.
I have worked as an invited art critic at Spill Festival, as a translator for the Italian project Sunday Storytelling, as an editor for the Corpologia magazine and as a production assistant for FEM Festival, as well as others. Most recently I have been editing video transcribing and translating for ELAA (the European Live Art Archive), and have taken part as an artist in the Festival Pepe Sales in Girona, Spain. I have work experience with different tools such as InDesign, Photoshop and pro video and sound tools.
