About me
Hi, I'm Usmaan (Usi), a junior creative from London. Being a creative individual, I believe is one of my most recognisable characteristics. Performance doesn't fill me with fear, but instead, with purpose. It is on stage where I feel most comfortable; it is where I can truly express myself and tell a message, evoke emotion and inspire. If an actor can hold the attention of every member of the audience, they have the power to alter their perception, educate and entertain. The confidence I gained as an actor further assists me in my other creative outlets, such as photography and filmmaking which I have pursued throughout my teen's when I bought my first camera. I am self-taught in the majority of my skill sets which I have learnt through years of trial and error, skills such as stop-motion animation, voice performance, Super 8 videography and so much more. I'm still eager to learn more about the crafts I adore and would love to help out in projects from other artists. Feel free to message me if you would like to collaborate or hire me for a project. - Usi

Hay-feverA digital series I took this summer, edited in Lightroom and Photoshop - this session drove my allergies up the wall.
  • Where Are You Really From?
Where Are You Really From? These photos are taken from a larger project which is an exploration of the exotification and fetishization of the black and white mixed-race male body. The photos demonstrate the ways in which the gaze of the photographer can be manipulated to accentuate and exacerbate the tropes of desirable black hypermasculine sexuality within the mixed-race male. Some of these photographs intentionally add to the plethora of racially biased media produced en masse within our culture - unconsciously or not -
  • If You Stand For Nothing What Do You Fall For?
If You Stand For Nothing What Do You Fall For?These series of photographs were taken during a protest in Oxford Street in London. I had completely stumbled into the protest without knowing what was happening. Leaving Oxford Street station all I could hear was the booming chants and the sounds of drums illuminating the streets. A sea of signs and colours waved through the wide streets usually bearing busy shoppers. Luckily my arsenal of cameras. My Canon 600D, Centon Film 50Mm and lastly my Canon 514Xl Super 8 Camera.
