About me
My name is Valeria Pacific, I’m from Colombia, and I am absolutely passionate about arts and eager to develop a career within the creative industries. I’m a multilingual Industrial Engineer with emphasis on organisations management and finance, graduated from the top university in Colombia and one of the five best universities in Latin America: Universidad de los Andes. I've always had an artistic flair and enjoy creative, fast paced environments. Moreover, I have recent experience in the theatre industry: My most relevant and most gratifying working experience has been for the Hamuy Munakuy Cultural Foundation, a non-profit organisation whose key aim is to raise awareness of indigenous communities through the arts. Whilst in my time with the Foundation, I was able to effectively utilise the management skills gained during my degree within the creative space, thus successfully orchestrating the administrative and artistic aspects of several projects. Having stepped in as a business development consultant, I quickly got involved in the artistic department, not only as an actress but also as an assistant producer.
My overall professional experience has given me the opportunity to develop my organisational skills, commercial awareness, leadership, dynamism and creativity. As a result of these experiences I have developed the necessary skills, knowledge and competencies to accomplish the professional goals I have set for myself. Furthermore, my numerous multicultural experiences have given me the opportunity to develop excellent communication and interpersonal skills and master several languages, and have taught me how to adapt to change as well as how to deal with many different kinds of people.
My main interests include performing arts, literature, languages and travel. Since I was 5 years old I started receiving training in performing arts such as corporal expression, singing, theatre and dance, but I took special interest in dancing; throughout my life I have studied several types of dancing including ballet, jazz, tap and contemporary dance. In recent years I started doing theatre again and had the opportunity, as I mentioned above, to participate in a professional production during one year. Aside from performing arts, I have always enjoyed reading and have a particular liking for Latin-American literature, especially for authors from the Latin-American Boom. However, I enjoy many different literary movements and delight in reading authors in their original languages, which is one of the reasons why I took interest in learning languages from a young age. Another reason that got me very interested in learning languages is that I love to travel and to meet new people and places. I have had the opportunity to travel to many places and it has only further awakened my interest for new experiences.
