About me
As a communication designer I am attracted by clever ideas, appreciate constructive experimentation and value inspiring teamwork. I am a multidisciplinary designer, specialised in print design, attracted by digital design and interested in speculative design. My interest lies in digital and analogue communication code systems. I recently graduated with a masters degree at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. Prior to that I worked almost three years successfully as a freelance designer before moving to London. I also graduated with a bachelor degree in Communication Design at University of Applied Sciences in Augsburg, Faculty of Design,Germany. During my studies I spent a semester abroad at Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest, MOME, Hungary.

  • BAVARIAN BIRTHDAY
BAVARIAN BIRTHDAYThese bottles are an unusual invitation for a birthday party. This celebration took place in Andechs, a monestary where a famous bavarian beer is brewed. Additionally the host is a huge fan of beer, which led me to the style of these invitations. On the front of the bottle of beer, brewed on site, is a rhyme, on the reverse you could read the basic information of the invitation. The themed bottle opener in the shape of a pin, was used as an identification mark at the bar.
  • CODE CARDS
CODE CARDSFor this self-initiated brief I researched various kinds of code systems, which fascinate me. In our lives we learn how to decode before we learn to speak. We learn to decode body languages and read facial expressions, later on we learn dress codes, etiquette, social codes and how to code and uncode language in type systems. We all interact with codes every day even unconsciously. For a conversation two parties need to know how to “code“ and “decode“ to communicate successfully. I created postcards with a message written in a code, which started a conversation, which I did not initially expect. Nowadays we tend to communicate so much and so quickly by using online media that the message itself becomes less precious and less appreciated. But a code could now be used the other way around to slow down and draw more attention and dedication to the message itself and therefore appreciate it more. I started to write messages on postcards in morse code, later in different other codes such as the Semaphore code system and later I started to develop my own codes. These code systems became more and more decorative, almost like readable patterns. After sending my postcards out, it was fascinating to receive responses in code, including new codes and in different medias. I also started a editable book to collect the codes with a hidden option to translate the code alphabets, integrated in the book cover.
  • Bookcovers
BookcoversThe startup publishing house of Lars Hackl and partners was searching for a new series design for their book brand. I suggested a colourful layout, which could also be adapted for several upcoming books. The cover is colourful and different to the usual styles, which can be found in the bookstores. I wanted the books to stand out from the crowd and therefore have a higher recognition value to create a new book brand.
  • DER SYMMETRIE AUF DER SPUR
DER SYMMETRIE AUF DER SPURThese are objects created as my undergraduate project. I decided to set my topic on symmetry. Symmetry is always present, in your everyday life, in art, in science and much more. I read a lot about it, but I wanted to look for very special cases of symmetry. I felt like a detective hunting down special cases of symmetry which led me to create a hard boiled detective style for this project. I created a book that is organised like a detective report with its different files. In this book I distinguished five special cases of symmetry, which I picked out of different fields. These five cases were demonstrated on five 'pieces of evidence'. Those pieces of evidence were shown at an exhibition prepared like the scene of a crime. The tools for the detective of symmetry became branded with a logo consisting of common and iconic detectives tools like magnifier glass and a pipe. The business cards are one of those tools, which you can use as a magnifier glass. Additionally I created a briefcase and stamp which looks like a signet ring.
  • DIE SCHARFEN KARPFEN
DIE SCHARFEN KARPFENFor my client 'Die Scharfen Karpfen' I designed a CD cover with an illustration that I drew for this project. This illustration of a carp fish, representing the name of the band, is central on the layout. The fish hangs on a fishing rod, which is real and is also used as a ribbon for closing.
