About me
Textiles has transcended its traditions to become a cutting-edge design discipline that promotes designers and makers to explore sustainability and surface design in unexpected ways. My practice has also evolved from a flat process of design to developing 3D surfaces with a focus on pattern and colour.
I use unexpected materials such as jesmonite, which is a composite material containing no solvents or volatile organic compounds. Its properties allow the material to be broken and re-configured with endless opportunity. My interest in sustainability has led me to create a series of work titled ‘Found Spaces-Mini Cities’ that aims to highlight the sheer volume of waste plastic packaging within our environment.
Colour is a powerful motivation and my current collection, inspired by a trip to Berlin and the creation of primary research, enabled me to reconfigure my approach to colour and pattern within my practice.
