The Artists Partnership is a leading UK talent and literary agency, and their Book to Film department represent the stage and screen rights for fiction and nonfiction works with strong potential for adaptation. As their intern, my role was to assist the department, including: ● Creating research documents for client projects. ● Diary management. ● Completing cash and card expense claims. ● Taking dictation for emails. ● Contract tracking and updating development slates. ● Answering the main office line and handling calls. ● Creating and editing the Rights Guide for the Frankfurt Book Fair 2016 and London Book Fair 2017. ● Uploading books, author biographies and general updates to the website. ● Writing submission letters for novels and scripts. ● Writing script breakdowns. ● Making film and TV rights enquiries for novels and plays. ● Data entry on Agent File.
Whilst at university, I was one of four editors of In The Red 13 , a book of short stories and poems written by local Merseyside writers, including literary contributions from myself and the editors. My edition of In The Red , published May 2015, held interviews from novelist and short story competition winners Carys Bray and Jenn Ashworth, Poet Cheryl Moskowitz and Comma Press editor Ra Page. In The Red 13 is now catalogued into the university library. My role consisted of managing the creation of the book from concept to publication including: ● Marketing, managing the social media, obtaining funding, editing and proofreading. ● Sourcing writers, graphic designers, talent and printers. ● Coordinating, managing and hosting events for writers including open-mics, performance workshops and student film screenings to fund the publication. ● Mentoring upcoming students offering advice and constructive feedback for their writing.
