About me

Since graduating in Illustration in 2010, I’ve been working on freelance and personal design projects. However, I haven’t managed to make a sustainable living from design and in the last few years, I’ve had to find other jobs to support my design career. I also haven’t always felt the work coming in was varied or creatively challenging enough. Now I’m looking for a new opportunity: an in-house design role where I can demonstrate my current skills, develop new ones and where I have time to try my hand at a range of roles.

• Fuzzy Logic Baby - EP coverI designed and helped to screen print a CD cover for Fuzzy Logic Baby's new EP - Glow in the Dark.
• Books for SchoolsI wanted to try to make an illustration with characters actually interacting with an object, because I haven't done many like that. I also wanted to see if I could make a convincing wool/fur texture and use some brighter colours.

I work in the Home department at Waitrose. I have responsibilities on both the shop floor and in the warehouse / operations office. On the shop floor, I give customer advice and respond to enquiries, meet with product representatives, arrange product displays, maintain stock levels and use the EPOS system. In the office, I manage stock, review the listings, check sales figures, contact buyers / suppliers and support the shop floor. Earlier this year I received a positive appraisal and pay rise.

My degree modules involved making presentations (independently and as part of a group), engaging in group critiques (discussing my work and methods and those of others) and allowed for self-initiated projects as well as those determined by tutors. My prioritisation and deadline management benefited from working on diverse projects of varying lengths at the same time.
