I was a senior art director in the UK creative team of the third largest food retailer in the world. I generate ideas and concepts for advertising campaigns and branding projects that are rolled out across a wide range of channels. These include: press; magazines; catalogues; out-of-home; in-store; direct marketing; digital; radio; and packaging. Always working to tight deadlines with limited resources and within budget, I am required to be versatile and hands-on at every stage of production. Alongside art direction and design, my role also encompasses: presenting proposals to stakeholders; art directing and styling photo shoots; post-production of photography; copywriting; creating style guides and campaign presentations; Commissioning and briefing copywriters, photographers and illustrators; project management; preflighting artwork for print and proofing on-press at printers in the UK and abroad; research and development of new substrates and print finishes; mentoring and training junior staff; recruiting and interviewing new talent. For the last five years my work has predominantly involved rebranding the business within the UK. Our team has successfully challenged the entrenched negative perceptions of the brand, resulting in a period of sustained growth in sales and market share. The campaigns and branding we created have been hugely successful and significant within the UK, as well as being localised for use by other territories across Europe.
I worked freelance on print, digital, branding and architectural visualisation projects. My clients included Thames Water, Sony Ericsson, Ideaworks3D, Surfpin, Ploom2 and Bestival.
As senior artist at this Bafta award winning games and technology company, my role was primarily to develop original content for mobile. I was also responsible for pitch work and the company’s branding and marketing needs. Clients included Nokia, Electronic Arts, Konami, and Square Enix.
