Xan Gill (b.1996) is a composer from the North East of England, now working in London. His upcoming engagements include an Arts Society commission, a trio for Karen Jones, Hugh Webb and Paul Silverthorne, and a dance/multimedia project for Northern Dance.
Most recently his new works 'sun, drums & soil' and 'dance distant' were premiered as part of the Royal Academy of Music Sound & Vision festival in February, and his ongoing orchestral piece 'One Pure Thought' was workshopped by RAMSO with Christopher Austin in September. Last year’s highlights included writing for the Riot Ensemble and London Metropolitan Brass amongst other mixed ensembles.
He is currently the Charles W Black Fellow at the Royal Academy of Music, studying for an MA in Composition under Philip Cashian. During this time he has received tuition from Hans Abrahamsen, Mark-Anthony Turnage, Tansy Davies, Georg Friedrich Haas, Helen Grime, and John Woolrich. Xan’s electronic / dance music has received over 100,000 streams and airplay on BBC Radio.
