Being brought up in a Japanese family in the U.K. has helped me to appreciate the cultural diversity that exists in the worlds of Art and Design. This has always been of interest to me. I have also leant to lead a healthy and energetic lifestyle. I am a member of a running group that helps me to maintain my fitness but also provides an opportunity to socialize with like-minded individuals from a wide array of professions. Practicing visual communications through out the course of 3 years have provided me an opportunity to expand my skill set in visual software (adobe after effects, premier, illustrator, photoshop, indesign, light room and maxxon cinema 4d) for the application for design of branding, identity, motion graphics, social design, typography and editorial design. In my final year my focus have been on branding and identity, where my final projects have focused on the re-branding of cultural institutions with heritage for the 21st century. Acting as the international representative of Bape EU has given me an insight into how companies operate on a global scale, and the way in which innovation is crucial to success in the world of retail. Being able to speak, read and write Japanese fluently has helped me to transcend the cultural barriers I face on a day to day basis when dealing with customers and associates overseas. I feel the importance of this cannot be underestimated with special regard to clients from Eastern-Asia who can provide an invaluable expansion to customer base and revenue. I have been entrusted with many responsibilities, including a managerial role, a role which has helped me to grow as a person becoming much more confident and adept at problem solving in highly pressurised situations. My time here has also reinforced the value of key skills such as communication, team-work and punctuality, whilst at the same time opened new doors of opportunity into the administrative side of the company which has offered a different but interesting perspective.
As a Graphic Designer I lead all the visual content, reaching out to existing and new audiences on print and digital media. My role was to oversee all visual content Tavistock Tutors produced, to make sure of its consistent good quality, to live up to their reputation. With clear understanding of my role ensured the right visual communication in the right format reached their target audience.
As a sales associate I kept good client relations, updating them about the latest items trending in a fast paced industry of fashion. With knowledge of products, advising clients, tailored to their individual needs for the right occasion, giving confidence to the suitability of items. As a member of a team, I acted as a representative of Marc Jacobs relaying the correct message and attracting clientele who hold the same ethos.
Management of all commerce and media online, exploring existing and new avenues to increase traffic on the website and social media platforms. My role also included management of stock based upon sales analysis and current trends, predicting the right amount of products to order for our clientele each season. Building a strong connection with head office in Japan, for efficient running of any inquiry that had to be met.
Through out this course development of visualisation of data, relationship between image and typography in commercial campaigns and packaging, social design and pure typography have been studied. Units: -Industry Practice -Stories, Methods and Forms -Language Audience and Environment -Contextual and Theoretical Studies
Technical skills were acquired in Adobe softwares; Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign, After Effects, Light Room, for the application for the use for commercial works.
