About me

Yazmin grew up in Cornwall but ventured to the big smoke to pursue a career in film. In 2015, she was approached by Jo Brand’s What Larks! Productions to develop her non-fiction book proposal MAN-TOX into a comedy shorts format for BBC3 style audiences. She associate produced and acted the leading role of Carly in the award-winning short film LA LUNE FOLLE (CRAZY MOON). Yazmin was selected for the Widening the Lens’ 2017 scheme run by Encounters Film Festival where she received mentoring from industry professionals for the development of her short film script MERMAIDS. In 2018 to 2019, she was Assistant to Director Christian Schwochow on Series 3 of THE CROWN. In 2019, she joined the writers' room for the development of ALIEN8ED, a BFI-backed show led by Simon J. Ashford (BBC's THEE MUSKETEERS) and Executive Producer Phillippa Giles (BBC’s LUTHER).  She is currently in post-production for MERMAIDS.

• Editorial, blog and copywritingAs a writer I've featured on Huffington Post, Amor Magazine, HelloGiggles, Elite Daily as well as LoveKnitting, LoveCrochet and LoveCrafts. I have a special interest in topics such as feminism & equality, wellbeing and culture. At university I founded the award nominated aliljoy.com, a collective blog which gave a platform for others to express their thoughts and experiences on love, life and finding the treasure in life's trials.
