About me
I am looking for opportunities to write and create literature and live literature projects, events and festivals. I am co-creator, co-Director of North West Literary Salon, Stories at the Storey, and Off the Page. I am co-director of a literary arts organization for live literature.
Projects
  • Stories at the Storey
Stories at the StoreyStories at the Storey is a true story open mic night. Each month, we encourage anyone with an engaging story to share their true stories loosely interpreting the month's theme with our audience. This award-winning event attracts diverse audiences and is growing as well as being supported by the community. My role in the project is a multi-faceted one including marketing, researching opportunities like becoming a BBC Get Creative Event, networking, organizing and event hosting. Since its launch in 2014 I have organized and co-organized over 20 true story open mic nights creating opportunities for at least 100 storytellers to share their stories to an estimated audience of 600. I secured support from Lancaster University Graduate College that includes their paying for space and catering (estimated 1,200) as well as marketing support. We are currently expanding this offering to include workshops, commissions, and an audio book publication.
  • The Writing Life
The Writing LifeThree years ago, I created an award-winning radio show, The Writing Life, where I interviewed writers about how they make a living with their words. I've recently created a team to take over this project and am now Executive Producer. Building the show required networking and building relationships with writers, managing time, marketing and managing resources as well as developing a social media presence and marketing strategy. For this project I researched available resources and utilized my experiences as a voice over artist and literary interviewer to create a platform for emerging writers that explores the varied ways professional writers make a living with their words. I was able to acquire funding from Lancaster University Student Union.
  • Off the Page
Off the Page Off the Page is a project where professional actors bring new writing to life. For this project we collaborate with Emma Rucastle and a team of actors to help writers develop their drafts. My role in this project includes building relationships with key stakeholders, managing and acquiring funding, acquiring talent, marketing and hosting events. Relationships with community arts groups and local writers has proved invaluable in developing this collaborative, multi-disciplinary project. I secured and managed funding of 800.00 from Graduate College and the Department of English & Creative Writing as well as in-kind support from The Dukes that included marketing, endorsements, space and ongoing writer development for playwrights
