Print designer for interiors specialising in hard surfaces and material exploration.
Zoe specialises in surface design and material exploration. Her projects are process driven and invite curiosity and contrast of materials and surface quality. She explores and pushes the potential of materials with a fresh approach to design; combining concrete and resin with acrylic, glass and innovative fabrics and fibres. Her work is profound and exciting, driven by her interest in creating a sense of narrative and with her focus on tactility. Alongside this her collections are accompanied with hand screen-printed surfaces and digital prints.
Projects
- Refined IndustrialThe ‘Refined Industrial’ collection took inspiration from the land formation along the Dorset coast and from natural forming rocks and crystals. The collection explores changing and contrasting textures and finishes, often in subtle and controlled ways. Laser etched concrete sits amongst resin trapped fabric and copper. The tiles work in tessellation to encourage interaction and give multiple combinations of placements.
- DEATHTOPIAA material exploration into how our world may look following a nuclear apocalypse. Conveying changed landscapes in the aftermath of nuclear fallout, toxic smoke and depleting resources. Deathtopia is a further look at the Anthropocene; the proposed term for the epoch when human activities had a global impact on the Earth. A collection of hard and soft surfaces that show the mixing and meeting of natural, marbled surfaces with plastics, metals and waste.Bolted and stacked to form the future geological records following radioactive fallout and the reckless hand of the human. The surfaces combine techniques in laser etching, resin work and concrete pigmentation. The accompanying fabrics are created predominantly with sublimation print techniques, both digitally created and hand painted. The materials throughout echo the futuristic style and the fallout devastation creating a hostile landscape. Optical fibres push through surfaces like the emergence of radiation exposed flora. Protruding and trapped plastics, unearthed from the waste piles in the local scrap store are representative of the identifiable fossils for future generations to discover. - Marlborough, United KingdomFull Time
Tin Horse is a product design consultancy focussing on innovative design
and branding. My role here was varied from day to day; it included
the responsibility of material sourcing, studio organisation and basic
understanding of project budgets. I created professional relationships
with suppliers and clients from various industries and I worked with every
member of the in-house team. I organised trips in Europe and the US,
assisted with photography and photo editing and composed trend research
and analysis.
